The coroner's concerns

  1. 1. staff not fully trained in BLS

“PRAS Conveyance Policy provides that staff escorting patients "are to be fully trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and are deemed to be competent to apply the techniques when needed”
  2. 2. inadequate staffing for emergency response

“the ambulance was adequately staffed to enable the journey to be safely carried out”
  3. 3. failure to recognise respiratory distress and cardiac arrest

“staff transporting Mrs [name redacted] did not recognise she was in respiratory distress and/or cardiac arrest and that she had effectively died whilst sat between them”
